Rod Allen has spent more than 20 years in the media and journalism and during this time worked with the country’s best newspapers and some of Australia’s largest businesses and sporting organisations and their stakeholders across a wide range of projects.  He has extensive contacts across the sporting spectrum and strong relationships with media identities in every newsroom in the country.

Starting off in journalism he has worked as a sports editor, chief of staff, political and finance journalist in Australia and overseas for both Fairfax Media and News Limited. In his most recent position as Managing Editor, Sport of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald newspapers he managed Fairfax Media's coverage of the Olympic games in Beijing and has overseen the coverage of many other Olympic and Commonwealth games and football, rugby union and rugby league world cups.

In 2009 he founded Rod Allen Media (now operating as Rocket Group) and has worked on a wide range of projects including Head Of Media Relations for Football Federation Australia in which he managed all aspects of the media for Australia's bids for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, the Socceroos' campaigns for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar. He was also Media Manager for the Australian Jockey Club and continues to work with the newly-merged Australian Turf Club.

Most recently he had the honour of managing the Main Press Centre office for The Australian Olympic Committee for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
